About the Conference Theme
Since passage of the Indian Education Act in 1972, the education of American Indian and Alaska Native children has been a pressing issue that recognizes and requires the involvement of Native educators, administrators, parents, and policy makers. This recognition has created opportunities for tribal communities throughout Indian Country from rural and urban areas to continue to be a catalyst for the resurgence of traditional methods of educating children through language revitalization and cultural methods of instruction.
The workshops and presentations provided throughout the conference will feature innovative strategies to effectively meet the educational needs of our children and families through strong collaborative partnerships.
So mark your calendar and please join us in Rapid City! The national conference will take place at the Mt. Rushmore Plaza Civic Center. Check back later for more information on presenters, call to conference, and workshop sessions.
